Edward Hodgman

Financial Advisor

Edward is a financial professional at Securian Capital of the Chesapeake. A graduate of Harvard College, Edward also has a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester. He spent seven years as an agent and Registered Representative with New York Life prior to joining Securian Capital of the Chesapeake. Edward’s focus is simple: helping his clients achieve their financial goals with a human touch. He helps his clients navigate the complexities of financial services with minimal stress, believing that good communication and clarity are the keys to getting things done right.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree with honors from Harvard College, Edward completed a Ph.D. in American History at the University of Rochester. He holds his FINRA Series 7 (General Securities Representative Examination), Series 6 and 63, and is licensed in Maryland, DC, and Virginia as well as California, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, and several other jurisdictions.

Edward’s career path has combined education and entrepreneurship. He successfully created a product ID and metal fabrication company in the 1990s that became a global exporter for several US companies and has had multi-year consulting arrangements with leading international market research companies. In 2014, he joined New York Life, becoming a Registered Representative in 2016. In 2022, he was invited to join Securian Capital of the Chesapeake to work with clients on retirement strategies, investment, risk protection, and estate planning.

Married with two grown children, Edward is a literacy tutor in Montgomery County and volunteers as a business coach. Hobbies include downhill and cross-country skiing and music. Edward serves as an elder at Hermon Presbyterian Church in Potomac, MD.
