Darren was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Early on in his life, he noticed the lack of basic financial literacy within his community and saw, first hand, the detrimental effect that such a lack of knowledge can have on people. It became his mission to financially equip his clients with the information and tools necessary to build and protect a high-quality life: one that is less characterized by worry and more so by freedom.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Providence College in Rhode Island. Upon graduating, he entered the mortgage industry on the refinance side of the business. His focus was helping people restructure their debt to generate positive cash flow. Yet again, he couldn’t help but notice the damaging effects that poor financial decisions have on people’s overall quality of life. He has joined our team here at Securian Capital of the Chesapeake because we have the knowledge, resources, and expertise needed to help him continue his mission to bring financial literacy to his community and help people live their best lives. Darren holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 registrations as well as State Life and Health Insurance licenses.
As an undergraduate at Providence College, he was heavily involved in the community as an active member of several clubs including the Providence College Finance Society, African-American Society, The Brotherhood Club, and Intramural Sports Club. He continues to be heavily involved in his community and his current focus is fostering the next generation of young professionals through his work with the Regal Women and Royal Men mentorship program in Baltimore.
In his free time, Darren enjoys fitness activities, reading, listening to podcasts, traveling, and spending time with his family. 2492044 4-2019
